
Bernardo Miethe started his musical studies in 1996, at the age of 9 in the Carabobo Music Conservatory. He was the principal flute at the Carabobo’s Youth Orchestra since he was 15, in 2003 until he was 17, at the end of 2005. With this group, he had the opportunity to play pieces such as Dvorak’s 9th symphony, “William Tell” Overture, Beethoven’s 9th symphony, Ravel’s “Bolero,” Shostakovich’s 10th symphony, Tchaikovsky’s 2nd symphony, and “Danza del Trigo” by Alberto Ginasteras, between others. He was also the first piccolo at the Venezuelan Central-Region Orchestra from December august 2004 to December 2005, which played annual concerts in Venezuela’s capital for musicians like Claudio Abbado and Sir. Simon Rattle. He was the piccolist in the Valencia’s Symphonic Band, in which he played pieces like “Night on Bald Mountain” and with this band he played as soloist for the first time in the year 2005. Bernardo also plays the Alto Flute. He played the rite of spring in alto flute with the University of Southern Mississippi symphony orchestra in 2007. He also premiered “Renaissance” by Jay Weigel, an orchestra piece with a Japanese style alto flute solo. He has performed in master classes with renowned flutists: Luis Julio Toro,
Yrene Briceño, Victor Rojas (Paris conservatory alumni), Tadeu Coelho, Richard Sherman, and also with Berliner Philharmonic’s piccolist Michael Hasel. Bernardo played, at the age of 15, in the Venezuelan National Symphonic Band, which played “Symphonic Dances of West Side Story,” “Overture to Candide,” and others. This band was conducted by Berliner Philharmonic’s trumpet player Thomas Clamor. He was also in the Ad-Libitum woodwind quintet and during his three years in that ensemble he received master classes with the Berlin Philharmonic woodwind Quintet in two different music festivals. Bernardo is currently 21 years old and he is studying music performance as a junior at the University of Southern Mississippi. He is performing in the Wind Ensemble, USM Symphony Orchestra, a Woodwind Quintet, and he is studying flute with Dr. Danilo Mezzadri.
